If you have ever head of skincare routine, one thing would ring a bell any day any time and it is the word routine “regimen”.


This skincare routine “regimen”. is me trying to help you build a lifestyle around a particular skin goal you want to achieve.


This post enables you understand regimens and how to follow one correctly


A routine “regimen” consists of what you do step by step daily and weekly




WHAT SKIN CARE IS REALLY ABOUT


The care of the skin is all about regimens and never about products which is why you may never get your desired result from using just one product

WHAT A GREAT SKIN CARE ROUTINE ”REGIMEN” SHOULD ENTALE


Are you ready amazing , please take out your writing materials and write out all days of the week on a column and also add two other columns on the sides lebeling them morning and night so you have what to do in the morning and at night


Every regimen starts with cleansing (sometimes you may pre-cleanse) so in the morning, everyday you must cleanse your face, by cleansing I mean to wash with face wash, face mousse, face soaps, face oils etc



Follow this up with the toning step (it is optional but strongly advised) Then you apply your moisturizer and follow with sunscreen or use sunscreen alone.


The above must happen everyday of your life in the mornings


At night, you should cleanse as well, tone and apply moisturizer of your choice. You should also do this every night


Now, select two days within the week to exfoliate; let’s say Monday and Friday this should be in the evenings and this means you will go back and adjust your regimen for evenings to be like this


Cleanse, scrub, tone, moisturize


Pick out the days you will wear a face mask . Maybe we decide for Tuesday and Saturday then you go back and adjust the evening regimen for those days like this


Cleanse, apply masks, remove mask, tone, moisturize


Then you move to body treatment which is usually exfoliation, detoxification and then building


Of course Saturdays are for ”sharp sharp” so you fix that in


Then pick a day in the week to build your skin, let’s pick thursdays so after bath in the evening on every thursday you apply Olive oil or Shea butter or vitamin e oil and go to bed



Then you pick a day in one month when you do the polish. Usually the simplest way is to activated charcoal or just charcoal in coconut oil and rub all over the body for a while then wash off or use Camwood and palm oil mix on your body for some hours and then wash off. Maybe you can choose 15th of every month for this


You can also include the time you drink water, maybe it could between two to three hours


This sounds a bit complex but it is the key to getting your skin to function better

Remember that you have to choose all the products in your regimen based on your skin condition and you have to document everything and follow it strictly.

A RUNDOWN OF WHAT A BASIC SKIN CARE ROUTINE SHOULD LOOK LIKE


Generally speaking, this regimen below covers all skin types


Morning: wash your face, apply toner, apply moisturiser/face cream, apply sunscreen if going out


Evening: wash your face, apply toner, apply moisturiser/face cream


once a week: steam your face


At least once a week: wear a face mask


At least once a week: exfoliate


Take Note: Do not steam your face more than once per week.


Your face wash, toner, moisturiser, mask and exfoliator should be picked according to what skin challenges you are facing .
